They're Baaaaaccck

If anyone needed more proof that removing dams benefit fisheries, look no further than the Elwha Dam in Washington. The wild steelhead pictured above is a 35 inch male that has been tagged above the free flowing section of the Elwha River where the dam used to be located. The fish was tagged and relocated to the Little River, which is a tributary of the Elwha that offers better spawning habitat. This is one of the first wild steelhead to be in these waters in a hundred years.

This is a huge win for wild steelhead.
