Muskyness

My buddies Matt and Mark Grajewski took care of business recently (Mark with the fish, Matt with the lens work). They have to be the fishiest group of brothers on the planet. Matt in particular has been innovating some of the baddest flies around, like the Nut Butter and the Fur Trader. I feel like every time I look, one of these dudes are holding a monster trout, or in this case, a big musky. Thanks fellas, because with my current residency, I have to live vicariously through your pics for real muskies. Hopefully we can get out on the water this September for some streamer fishing.

Word on The Street

Musky Country: Zero 2 Hero Trailer from RT on Vimeo.

Word on the street is that the ice on my local Musky haunt is clearing. But that's just the word on the street.

If yours isn't then pick up Musky Country: Zero 2 Hero from Rob Thompson at thirdyearflyfisher.com.

Success

It's great when a plan comes together. After tying ridiculous amount of pike flies, driving 7 hours, and freezing my ass off, we found some pike willing to chase. Congrats to my homie Andy, he caught this New Mexico pike on his third cast of the day. It was a kick ass time.

PS - Wear your pfd in New Mexico, I got a ticket for it on my trip. I had mine in the boat, but I didn't have it on.  They are trying to tell me that I have to drive down to Aztec, NM to appear in court because of it. Stay tuned.

Let's Get This Party Started

Fly Nation Season 2 Trailer - Lake St. Joseph Gators from Fly Max Films on Vimeo.

I use to do a yearly trip to Northwest Ontario for pike fishing every year. We always caught a lot of fish and I miss going on it dearly. Since moving to Colorado, I dont fish for pike or musky nearly enough. Not that we don't have them, in fact, we have pretty decent fishing for them here. It just never has been the same for me though.

This weekend... that all changes. The clip above, compliments of Fly Max Films, got me pumped for this weekend's festivities. I'm off to the vise... because pike flies don't tie themselves.
